Kosmos
Chi include la diversità ed è Natura,
Chi è l’ampiezza della terra e la volgarità e la sessualità
della terra, e la grande carità della terra, e il suo equilibrio anche,
Chi non per nulla ha guardato dalle finestre degli occhi e
non per nulla nel suo cervello ha dato udienza ai messaggeri,
Chi contiene credenti e miscredenti, chi è il più maestoso amante,
Chi possiede debitamente uomo e donna, la sua una e
trina porzione di realismo, spiritualismo, senso estetico o intellettuale,
Chi avendo preso in considerazione il corpo trova tutti i suoi
organi e le sue parti buone,
Chi, fuori dalla teoria della terra e del suo corpo, uomo o
o donna, capisce per sottile analogia tutte le altre teorie,
la teoria di una città, di un poema, dell’ampia politica di questi stati,
Chi crede non soltanto nel nostro pianeta con il suo sole e
la sua luna, ma anche in altri pianeti con i loro soli e le loro lune,
Chi, costruendo la sua casa, non per un giorno, ma per
sempre, vede razze, ere, date, generazioni,
il passato, il futuro abitare lì, come lo spazio, insieme, inseparabili.

Who includes diversity and is Nature,
Who is the amplitude of the earth, and the coarseness and sexuality of the earth, and the great charity of the earth and the equilibrium also,
Who has not look’d forth from the windows the eyes for nothing, or whose brain held audience with messengers for nothing,
Who contains believers and disbelievers, who is the most majestic lover,
Who holds duly his or her triune proportion of realism, spiritualism, and of the æsthetic or intellectual,
Who having consider’d the body finds all its organs and parts good,
Who, out of the theory of the earth and of his or her body understands by subtle analogies all other theories,
The theory of a city, a poem, and of the large politics of these States;
Who believes not only in our globe with its sun and moon, but in other globes with their suns and moons,
Who, constructing the house of himself or herself, not for a day but for all time, sees races, eras, dates, generations,
The past, the future, dwelling there, like space, inseparable together.
